Ideas for Celebrating Customer Service Week in Your Call Center

It’s that time of year again: Customer Service Week! This year, Customer Service Week is being celebrated October 7-11, and the ways companies celebrate this auspicious occasion are as varied as the companies themselves. That’s why we decided to query a few customers to find out how they honor the great work their agents and contact center teams do day in and day out.

Here’s what our customers had to say.

A Crowd Favorite: Free Food

  • Morning treats (donuts, fruit, bagels)
  • Site-wide luncheons
  • Food trucks
  • Cookouts
  • Potlucks
  • Catered lunches
  • Ice cream socials

“Our management team plans a pizza party and personally serves ice cream to agents to thank them for their hard work.”

Kay Lau, QA Officer, General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT)

Special Activities

  • Lip-sync videos made for the agents by leadership
  • Chair massages
  • Photo Booths
  • Daily dress-up themes (Footie Pajama Day, Decades Day, Favorite Sports Team Day, etc.)
  • Raffles
  • Team-building activities
  • Offsite parties

“We do monthly and quarterly employee recognition, from ‘Rock Star of the Month’ to ‘Top 5% of AIM’ scores. We usually have cake and celebrate in the break room. We try to celebrate throughout the year, and also hold an annual gathering at either the beach or the local zoo.”

Nicole Price, Customer Experience Manager, Radial, a bpost company

Games, Prizes and Giveaways

  • Contact center and/or pod decorating contests
  • Bingo games featuring customer service terms
  • Other daily games, contests and team-building competitions with big-ticket prizes like TVs
  • Company-branded swag
  • Gift cards

“One week is honestly not enough time to let our agents know how much they mean to us! Every day, they go above and beyond for our customers, but this is our way of making sure they know they matter to us!”

Jaslyne Dolak, Data and Analytics Specialist, Erie Insurance

Recognition Programs

  • Handwritten thank you notes to agents from leadership
  • Appreciation parties
  • Award programs and ceremonies (based on nominations from peers, leaders and/or customers)
  • Daily recognition for quality scores and other key metrics
  • Prominent posting of customer quotes that praise specific agents

“Celebrating their work and reminding them that they are a crucial part of our organization—and the energy they put into their work—is what makes our organization one of the best hospital networks in the nation.”

Daniel Acosta, Call Center Applications Analyst III, Houston Methodist

Whether you offer these activities only to your contact center teams or extend them to the entire organization, this list will help you jumpstart your own Customer Service Week celebration or freshen up your existing festivities. Happy Customer Service Week!
